XVI / Practice in Progress Space Opening Night

The Practice in Progress Space supported by the SASA Gallery on the UniSA City West Campus had the opening night on Wednesday 28th of July during the XVI exhibition. It was a fantastic turn out and at times was so crowded no one could move, but the most important thing was that everyone enjoyed it. There was a marvelous range of techniques and styles displayed by the 16 artists, including myself, with paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures, bookmaking, stop motion animation and installation.

Here are a couple photographs from the evening before it got too crowded.

XVI Exhibition

A multi disciplinary exhibition of artworks by 16 Second Year Bachelor of Visual Arts (Specialisation) students.

Forward,
Sixteen is the first exhibition of the Practice in Progress - 120 Artists in 12 Weeks project that has been supported by the SASA Gallery and organised with the generous help from Mary Knights. Throughout the 12 weeks, 120 artists from the Visual Art (Specialisation) course will come together to exhibit their own work that has been developed whilst studying at the University of South Australia. Each individual group has been designated a number of days to display their work in an attempt to allow the students to experience the ins and outs of organising and preparing for an exhibition. The final goal is to hopefully propel the students into their own professional practice and allow them to see what it takes to be a professional artist.
In the XVI exhibition I have showing my 'Far From Gravity' series of computer manipulated photography which I developed in my Computer Manipulated Photography (A) class in Study Period 2 this year.
The images portray the effortless defiance of gravity bringing dreams to life. I have always dreamed of floating or flying and I wanted to share the ideal reality I had dreamed of through these photographs.

C.C. - Code Geass Cosplay

This is my very first attempt at creating a costume from scratch. It is the character C.C. in a once off outfit from season one of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. I made this costume specially for AVCon '10 and will be showing it off at the cosplay marshalling. This is a new and exciting (as well as nerve racking) experience for me. It's going to be great :D
I have to thank cosplaydna who supplied me the wig via ebay as well as my best friend Steph who bought me the fabric!
